Weekend Television/Movie Review...

Posted by SuburbanGirl at 09:32 PM on November 14, 2005.

Let's start with the good stuff...

~Category 7:  The End of he World - Sure it was an ass-sucking good time for all.  It was a piece of crap movie, I realize that...but I've seen worse.  That being said...what with all this bull the critics were spewing about Gina Gershon?  In ever single review I read there was some complaint about having her playing the head of FEMA.  Why is that so unbelievable?  Is it because she's known for the worst box office bust in history?  Well, any critic worth anything should know she has indie cred that proves she's no talentless wonder.  One article had the nerve to say something about IQ.  If they had bothered to do their research on her they'd know she's no idiot.  She may not be a card carrying member of MENSA (a la Jodie Foster and Sharon Stone), but she's no dummy.  There's a rant about patriarchy just waiting to happen here, but I'll save it...I have other shows to discuss.

~Locusts:  The 8th Plague - This was sucky sci-fi channel movie gold!  The effects were horribly cheap...but that's what I love about these flicks.  You know you can't expect much from anything Dan Cortese is the star of.  Julie Benz...I would have thought she could do better, but I guess you don't really get respect for stellar Buffyverse performances unless your name is Sarah Michelle Gellar.

and last but certainly not least...

~Gilmore Girls - I've finally seen the "Jess Returns" episode.  Before I discuss anything else, I must give Lauren Graham her props for that performance at the end.  The woman has major chops.  Of course that little rant was more about Rory than it was about the dog. Rory..blah as usual, but I did like that she finally stood up to Emily, not why the hell couldn't she do the same with Logan?  He's on the fast path back to the dislike list.  Why do I get the feeling they're going to kill off poor Paul Anka?  I have a feeling they're going to use that as the catalyst for Rory and Lorelai reconciling.  This ep looks like it was all about showing how much Lorelai loves that dog.  They'll probably kill him off, and Lorelai will be so upset over it not even Luke will be able to comfort her...which Rory will find out about and come running.

On that note I'll end this because I apparently watch too much television.
